COLONEL CATS

WHO WE ARE
Our Beginning
Colonel Cats started when a Biology study group full of cat lovers passed by the student union and felt pity for our campus colony. They had been here for years, dependent on the kindness of the campus faculty, students, and community. So we made it our mission to befriend these cuties. It took about a month of bringing treats, toys, and a lot of sticks being dragged around to get their trust. Now a lot of people can pet the cats because they're learning that they're just as deserving of love as any.

TNR PARTNERSHIP
Helps limit the Colony's Growth
Partnering with the Lafourche Animal Shelter, in December 2021 we were able to trap and transport 11/13 cats and get them spayed and neutered! Doing this has shown a significant reduction in the cat's spraying and aggression.
FEEDING STATION
Reinforcing our Commitment
Our next big mission is building a feeding station for the cats. It's essential with outdoor animals to give them stability. Having one area with food, one specific feeding time, one specific food, etc. This project is meant to expand beyond our organization, and to be a collaboration of the Nicholls Community
A HOME
One Step at a Time
Colonel Cats is dedicated to getting the cats a home, because every living being deserves one. Currently the cats roam campus and reside under the buildings. This isn't safe for the cats or maintenance that go under the buildings, so our initiative after the feeding station will be finding what works best for the campus and colony.
“A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not.”
Writer Ernest Hemingway
